MCC Compact Implementation in Madagascar Put on Hold

March 23, 2009

Madagascar’s MCC compact implementation has been put on hold in conjunction with the State Department’s suspension of all non-humanitarian assistance.  Madagascar has a long history with the MCC, as it was the first country to sign a compact in April 2005, with over half of the $110 million being disbursed to date.  The compact focuses on land tenure, financial sector reform and agricultural business investment.
