On August 31, 2007, the MCC signed a five-year, $698 million compact with Morocco.  This is the biggest MCA compact to-date. The compact's investments will increase productivity and improve employment in high potential sectors such as fruit tree productivity, small-scale fisheries, and artisan crafts. Small business creation and economic growth will also be supported by investments in financial services and enterprise support.

MCA Status

Morocco's compact entered-into-force on September 15, 2008. Morocco's compact has five major projects, including: expanding the production of fruit trees; supporting small-scale fisheries through facility construction and training; supporting artisans and leveraging the links between crafts, tourism and cultural, historical and architectural assets; increasing financial services to micro-enterprises; and supporting enterprises to address youth unemployment and help Morocco's business increase competitiveness in a globalized economy.
