Job Opening: Research Assistants -- Statistics/Econometrics and Development Policy

The Center for Global Development (CGD), seeks three Research Assistants to provide research and organizational support to its Senior and Research Fellows beginning in late July.

Research Assistant – Statistics and Econometrics

General Responsibilities:

  • Conduct literature and data searches for ongoing research projects.
  • Organize and attend meetings/conferences related to research priorities.
  • Provide other research, writing and editing support for various reports and documents.
  • Perform other duties as necessary in support of Senior Research staff.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:

  • Master’s degree in economics or other development-related field. Excellent candidates with bachelor’s degrees and relevant work experience will also be considered.
  • Extensive training in econometrics, microeconomic theory, macroeconomic theory and development economics is required.
  • Ability to use statistical packages such as STATA and Excel is essential.
  • Familiarity with issues related to development economics, foreign policy, and related topics.
  • Outstanding communications and writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with small groups.

Research Assistant – Development Policy

General Responsibilities:

  • Conduct literature and data searches for ongoing research projects.
  • Organize and attend meetings/conferences related to research priorities.
  • Provide other research, heavy writing and editing support for various reports and documents.
  • Perform other duties as necessary in support of Senior Research staff.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:

  • Master's degree in economics, political science, development studies, or other related field. Excellent candidates with bachelor’s degrees relevant work experience will also be considered.
  • Familiarity with issues related to development economics, foreign policy, and related topics, especially international financial markets and/or foreign aid.
  • Experience in Africa or other developing region is a plus.
  • Outstanding communications and writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with small groups.

Salary

  • Mid $30’s, commensurate with experience.
