The G8 made progress on Advance Market Commitments (AMC) for vaccines at the St. Petersburg Summit. The G8 statement on infectious diseases lists the steps which individual countries will take and mentions for the first time an AMC focus on pneumococcal infections, such as pneumonia and meningitis. CGD senior associate Owen Barder concludes: "So far, so good."
