Alba Loureiro is a Research Associate for Gender at CGD. She works on issues related to women's economic empowerment and financial inclusion. Prior to joining CGD, she served as a quantitative research intern at Women's World Banking, where she studied women's pathways to executive roles and the financial literacy of micro-ultra-entrepreneurs. She also interned in Geneva, Switzerland, at the Permanent Mission of Paraguay to the United Nations and Plan International's United Nations Liaison Office. In addition, she has worked with Amigos de las Americas, Fundación Paraguaya, and the Foundation for Defense of Democracies. Loureiro holds two master's degrees in Law and Diplomacy from The Fletcher School at Tufts University and International Affairs from the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland. She also holds a bachelor's in Quantitative Economics and Government from Smith College. Born and raised in Paraguay, Loureiro is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, and Guarani.
