Azusa Sato was a policy fellow at the Center for Global Development on secondment from the Asian Development Bank. Her areas of interest include global health policy, social protection, and development finance. She has a particular interest in health financing and implementation of social assistance programs, having worked on these topics in the past few years in Southeast Asia. She has previously worked with the Ethiopian Ministry of Health and the Ethiopian Health Insurance Agency as an Overseas Development Institute Fellow, helping to introduce social health insurance nationwide. Sato holds a PhD in Health and Social Policy (focusing on traditional medicines utilization in Ghana), a Master’s in Population and Development, and a Bachelor’s in Economics.
