Jürgen Karl Zattler is a development and macroeconomist with more than 30 years of experience in international cooperation. Until August 2023, Jürgen Karl served as Director-General at the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, covering international organizations (Multilateral Development Banks, UN, EU, G7 and G20), the SDGs as well as climate and environmental issues. Before, he held the position as Executive Director representing Germany at the World Bank Group. His prior experience in the public and private sector includes the European Commission in Brussels, where he worked on macroeconomic issues related to developing countries and the Dresdner Bank in Berlin. He holds a PhD in economics from the University of Giessen (trade theory and policy).
