Koldo Echebarria was the Director General of Esade Business and Law School in Barcelona, President of Esade-Creapolis, a business innovation park, and Associate Professor at the Department of Strategy and General Management from 2018 to 2022. As Esade director general, he managed to increase revenues by 20%, triple EBITDA, and double donations for scholarships. He has also contributed to program innovation by creating new undergraduate, graduate, and executive education programs together with leading international universities. Under his leadership, all programs have been hybridized with digital technology, and a new range of online programs for executives has been launched to reinforce Esade’s leadership in the sector.
Koldo joined the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in 2000 where he worked for more than 18 years. He started as a Senior Public Sector Reform Specialist, working in projects throughout the region, coordinating the regional policy dialogue on civil service reform and authoring knowledge products like the The Politics of Policies. He was Country Director for Chile and Haiti, coordinating country strategies and programs and leading the design and implementation of projects and technical cooperations. He was General Manager of Strategic Planning and Development Effectiveness between 2007 to 2013, reporting to the President. He led the implementation of the realignment internal reforms, the approval of a new Development Effectiveness Framework and the Initiative for Impact Evaluation. He coordinated the IDB's most recent capital increase and the execution of the better bank agenda. He also started the reform process of private sector windows.
