We know more about what works (and what does not) to prevent violence in and around schools, but turning this evidence into policy and practice is still a major challenge. How common is violence in schools, and what does the evidence tell us about preventing and responding to it? What are governments doing, and how can data and evidence better guide their efforts?
Held at the Second Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children, this event brings together the Center for Global Development (CGD), UNICEF, the Safe to Learn Secretariat, and the Coalition for Good Schools’ LATAM Hub to explore these questions and connect global evidence with action at the country level. Speakers will draw on global and regional data, country experiences, and progress under the Safe to Learn Call to Action to highlight remaining gaps in knowledge, implementation, and policy. The event will also take a closer look at Latin America and the Caribbean, including the role of civil society in the region.
