Aishwarya Venkat is a research assistant to Rachel Glennerster. Her current work in CGD focuses on research evaluating the effectiveness of foreign aid and a field study assessing health misinformation in Sierra Leone. She holds a master’s degree in International and Development Economics from Yale University, where her thesis evaluated heterogeneity in hiring effects across industries in the aftermath of the extension of maternity benefits in India. During her tenure as a research assistant at the Yale Economic Growth Center, she worked on a project examining how group affiliations influence preferences and costs associated with female labor supply in India. She is passionate about gender equity, climate resilience, education, and economic mobility in low- and middle-income country contexts. Prior to her master’s, she worked in DE Shaw as a financial research associate in the regulatory capital optimization strategy team.
