Sam Besse was a research assistant at the Center for Global Development, supporting the work of Charles Kenny, Justin Sandefur, and Pamela Jakiela. Besse graduated from the University of Maryland in 2018 with a BS in Economics and a BS in Geographic Information Systems. His thesis investigated gender differences in spending on children’s healthcare in Bangladesh. In college, Besse also interned at J-PAL South Asia as a research assistant working on leveraging social networks to identify tuberculosis patients.
