In 2022, the Center for Global Development and the Inter-American Development Bank jointly convened an expert working group to examine the challenges faced by firms and labor markets in Latin America and the Caribbean during the COVID-19 crisis and the highly uncertain recovery phase that followed. The working group—made up of top economists and lawyers from countries in the region—issued a report with recommendations to help policymakers and international financial institutions identify and implement actions to spur renewed investment by productive firms, support the growth of new ones, and improve labor market performance.
