Salk and Sabin Honoured by US Stamps

The US Postal Service announced yesterday

the issue of stamps to honor heroes of the vaccine world:

Two of the most esteemed scientists in the world, Dr. Jonas Salk andDr. Albert Sabin, were honored today with postage stamps as part of theDistinguished Americans series. For their dedication to fighting polioand other infectious diseases, Salk and Sabin received numerous awards,including the Presidential Medal of Freedom (Salk in 1977, Sabin in1986) and the National Medal of Science (Sabin in 1970).

Salk is depicted on the 63-cent stamp, the rate for two-ounce First-Class mail,and Sabin on the 87-cent stamp, the three-ounce First-Class rate.
