Michelle Sieff was an Advancing Evidence in Policy Fellow, where her work focused on improving the use of data and evidence in U.S. foreign assistance decision-making. Before joining CGD, Sieff spent ten years working in public sector consulting, assisting USG agencies (DoD, USAID, Department of State, MCC) in using data, social science research, and analytics to design and adapt security and development programs in Africa. Most recently, she was the Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor for Prosper Africa, an interagency initiative at USAID. She has a Ph.D. in Political Science from Columbia University, where her coursework and dissertation focused on political economy, democratic transitions, and peacebuilding in sub-Saharan Africa.
