Global Fund Short List

According to the Wall Street Journal and the Financial Times, the short list of five candidates for the Executive Director of The Global Fund for AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria includes (in alphabetical order):

  • Michel Kazatchkine, France's global ambassador for HIV/AIDS and communicable diseases
  • Jim Kolbe, U.S. republican congressman from Arizona
  • Hilde Johnson, former minister of international development in Norway
  • Bill Roedy, vice chairman of MTV Networks and president of MTV Networks International
  • Michel Sidibe, director of country and regional support department at UNAIDS

The new ED will be announced at the board meeting on October 31st. In anticipation of the transition, CGD has convened a working group on The Future of the Global Fund: Challenges and Opportunities for the New Executive Director, whose recommendations will be available at that time.
