Amid turbulence in development and climate finance, countries are showing a growing interest in a long-time development tool: the country platform. The recent resurgence includes the high-profile Just Energy Transition Partnerships (JETPs); new initiatives on adaptation, water, and food security; and the more than 10 platforms expected to launch at COP30 this fall.

Can platforms meet high expectations to let countries “do more with less” or are they overhyped? Building on a new CGD paper, this panel brings together senior leaders from governments and partners for a candid discussion on what it takes to execute effectively on country platforms. Their insights will help inform the new wave of country platforms.
