Beata Cichocka joined CGD’s European Development Policy and Leadership Programme in November 2019. Her main areas of interest include the future of development agencies, the role of emerging economies in the global development architecture, and the effectiveness of climate finance. In her current role, she also supports CGD’s Commitment to Development Index.
Prior to joining CGD, she worked with the European Commission at DG INTPA, focusing on ODA projects in Asia and the Pacific. Previously, she gained professional experience in China, working for the UNDP on South-South cooperation, as well as with the World Resources Institute, where she supported research on sustainable urbanisation policies in emerging economies.
Cichocka holds an MPA in International Development from Tsinghua University in Beijing, and a BA in Chinese, Politics and International Relations from Durham University.
