Tom Drake is a senior policy analyst in the global health policy team. His main areas of interest are global health economics and evidence-informed policymaking. His recent work includes a proposal to reform the financing of health services in countries receiving aid, known as the New Compact, and analysis of how science diplomacy can influence research publishing reform.
Tom joined CGD from the UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (formerly Department for International Development) where he advised on global health economics and led programmes to support research system strengthening in African countries. He was previously an Assistant Professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and a Research Fellow at the University of Oxford.
He has a DPhil in health economics from the University of Oxford.
