On December 7, 2017, Marie-Claude Bibeau, Canada's Minister of International Development and La Francophonie, gave a keynote address at the the third annual Birdsall House Conference on Women, “Reproductive Choices to Life Chances: The Links between Contraception and Women’s Economic Empowerment.” A summary of the evidence on the link between access to contraception and women's economic empowerment is available here.
From the speech:
“I firmly believe that a woman’s fundamental right to economic empowerment must include her fundamental right to choose in all areas of her life.…The evidence that reproductive choices have an enormous impact on the life choices young women make has never been more compelling.”
